Hydro jet drain cleaning on Long Island
Hydro jetting sends high-pressure water through a drain line to scour off grease, scale and roots that a snake leaves behind. JET provides hydro jet drain cleaning for Long Island homes and businesses, available 24/7.
When hydro jetting makes sense
Jetting isn't the first step for every clog. It earns its place when buildup coats the pipe or a clog keeps returning.
Clogs return after snaking
If a line clogs again soon after it was snaked, the cable likely opened a path but left buildup on the pipe walls.
Grease-heavy kitchen lines
Kitchen drains, especially in restaurants, build up layers of fat that harden on the pipe and narrow it over time.
Scale and sludge buildup
Mineral scale and sludge can coat the inside of older lines and slow drainage throughout a branch.
Fine roots in the line
Thin, fibrous roots that work in through pipe joints can be cut back and flushed out with the right jetting nozzle.
Slow flow everywhere
Drains that work but never run at full speed often have buildup along the whole length of the pipe.
How hydro jetting cleans a drain
Instead of punching a hole through a clog, hydro jetting cleans the pipe from wall to wall, then flushes the loosened material downstream.

What hydro jetting is
A hydro jetter pumps water at high pressure through a flexible hose to a nozzle inside the pipe. Jets on the back of the nozzle push it forward through the line, while front and side jets cut into the blockage and spray the pipe walls.
As the hose is pulled back, the water carries grease, scale and debris downstream and out of the line.
Nozzles for grease, scale and roots
Jetting is not one-size-fits-all. Different nozzles do different jobs: some break up stoppages, rotating nozzles scrub the full circumference of the pipe, and specialty cutting heads are made for roots.
The technician picks the nozzle and pressure for the pipe size, the material and what needs to come out. Thick tree roots may need a cutting head or mechanical cleaning, followed by a camera inspection to check the pipe.
Not every pipe should be jetted
High-pressure water can damage a pipe that is already compromised. Cracked, collapsed or badly deteriorated lines, and some old clay or cast iron pipe, may not handle jetting safely.
When the condition of a line is unknown or it has a history of problems, JET can inspect it with a camera first. A line that is broken or collapsed needs repair, not cleaning, and a gentler method such as snaking may be used on fragile pipe.
Hydro jetting vs. snaking
A snake is often the right first tool. It’s quick and clears most single-fixture clogs, which is why most calls start with standard drain cleaning.
Jetting goes further when the problem is buildup rather than a single plug. Because it cleans the walls, the line usually stays clear longer after grease or scale is removed.
Jetting drains on cesspool and septic properties
On homes with a cesspool or septic system, jetting the drain lines does not empty or clean the system. If the cesspool is full, water will still back up after the pipes are clear.
JET can check both the lines and the system. If the system needs work, see cesspool cleaning or pumping. For the main sewer line between the house and the street or cesspool, see sewer jetting.

Hydro jet drain cleaning FAQs
Don't see your question? Call (631) 260-3640.
Is hydro jetting always needed?
No. Many clogs clear with a drain snake. Jetting is used for grease, scale, roots and clogs that keep coming back, when the pipe is in good enough condition.
Can hydro jetting damage pipes?
It can damage pipe that is already cracked, collapsed or badly deteriorated. That is why a camera inspection is recommended first when the condition of a line is unknown.
Does hydro jetting remove tree roots?
Jetting with a rotating or cutting nozzle can clear fine roots. Heavy roots may need a cutting head or mechanical cleaning, and roots may grow back if the pipe joint stays open.
Is hydro jetting safe for my cesspool or septic system?
Jetting uses only water, with no chemicals. It cleans the pipes leading to the system but does not pump or clean the cesspool itself.
Do you hydro jet commercial kitchen drains?
Yes. JET jets grease-heavy drain lines for restaurants and other commercial kitchens, and can pair it with grease trap cleaning.
