Cesspool Pumping in Suffolk County, NY
JET Cesspool Service provides cesspool pumping across Suffolk County, NY. We pump and clean cesspools for homes and businesses, clear backed-up lines, and answer emergency calls 24/7.
Suffolk County says nearly 70% of its homes use cesspools and septic systems. That makes cesspool pumping a routine part of owning a home in much of the county, and an easy job to put off until something goes wrong.
A cesspool collects wastewater from the house and lets the liquid seep into the surrounding soil, while solids and grease stay behind. Over time that material builds up and seals the sides and bottom, so the cesspool drains more slowly and fills faster. Pumping removes the buildup and gives the system room to work again.
JET Cesspool Service is a family-owned Suffolk County company. We handle routine cesspool maintenance, emergency pumping when a system is backing up, cesspool cleaning, and the drain and main line problems that often show up at the same time. Our crews cover the whole county, from western towns like Babylon and Huntington out to the East End.
Looking for the best cesspool service in Suffolk County usually comes down to practical questions: will someone pick up at night, will they find the actual cause, and will they explain what they found? We answer 24/7, we look at the system and the lines before recommending work, and we tell you plainly whether your cesspool just needed pumping or is showing signs of failure.
Pricing depends mainly on the size of the system, how easy it is to reach the cover, and how long it has been since the last pumping. Call for a quote based on your property.

Signs your cesspool needs pumping
Call if you notice any of these, if the system is overdue, or if more people are using it than usual.
Slow drains all over
When sinks, tubs and toilets all drain slowly at the same time, the system itself is usually the problem, not a single clogged pipe.
Gurgling or backups
Gurgling toilets and water coming back up into a tub or floor drain mean wastewater has nowhere to go.
Sewage odor
A sewage smell in the yard or near the drains often means the cesspool or tank is full.
Wet ground over the system
Soggy soil, standing water or unusually green grass above the cesspool or tank can mean it is overflowing.
No pump-out in years
If you can't remember the last pump-out, or you just bought the house, it's time to have the system checked and emptied.
More people than usual
Guests, a growing family or a rental unit add water the system has to handle, so it fills sooner than it used to.
What Suffolk County's rules mean when a cesspool fails
Pumping keeps a working cesspool going, but it can’t revive one that has failed. When that happens in Suffolk County, the replacement has to meet current standards. Under Article 6 of the Suffolk County Sanitary Code, since July 1, 2019, replacing a system requires Department of Health Services approval and a septic tank ahead of the leaching structure, so a failed cesspool can no longer be swapped for another cesspool.
New or expanded single-family homes have had to use an I/A (innovative/alternative, nitrogen-reducing) system since July 1, 2021. Article 19, enacted in 2017, made the Department of Health Services the agency that evaluates, approves, registers and oversees those systems. Because the rules change what a replacement involves, it pays to have a cesspool pumped and checked before small symptoms turn into a failure.
Help paying for a cesspool upgrade in Suffolk County
Suffolk County’s Septic Improvement Program, part of Reclaim Our Water, offers grants of up to $20,000 per property toward replacing a cesspool or septic system with an approved I/A system. The basics: an existing single-family or two-family home (or a single-family home with one accessory apartment) that isn’t connected to a sewer, a valid Certificate of Occupancy, paid town taxes with no liens, and a deed on file with the County Clerk. Documented failures get priority.
New York State’s Septic System Replacement Program separately covers up to 75% of eligible costs, capped at $25,000. A homeowner may qualify for both, but nothing is guaranteed, so check eligibility with the County before committing to a project. The County’s program page lists the current rules and the documents you’ll need.
