Cesspool pumping in Southampton, from the village to the hamlets

Looking for dependable cesspool pumping in Southampton? Jet Cesspool Service is your local partner for fast, clean, and effective cesspool and septic solutions. Whether you’re in the heart of Southampton Village or in hamlets like Hampton Bays, North Sea, or Shinnecock Hills, our team serves homes and businesses throughout this historic Long Island town.

We offer a full range of cesspool and septic services, including pumping, maintenance, cleaning, and emergency repairs. Available 24/7, we’re ready for emergency septic pumping near you, no matter the hour.

Septic tank emptying and cesspool pumping do the same basic job: they remove the sludge and scum that build up between services so wastewater can keep soaking into the ground. Southampton properties range from village homes on small lots to large houses that fill up in summer, and either kind of system does better when it’s pumped on a schedule instead of after a backup.

We provide cesspool pumping services in Southampton and its hamlets and villages, including Hampton Bays, Shinnecock Hills, North Sea, Bridgehampton, Noyac, Water Mill, East Quogue, Westhampton Beach and Remsenburg-Speonk, and across Suffolk County. That covers both Southampton ZIP codes, 11968 and 11969.

On village lots, access can be the slowest part of the job: a cesspool cover under a patio, a driveway or a planted bed takes longer to reach. If you know where your covers are, tell us when you call. If you don’t, our technicians locate the system before pumping, and we’ll talk through access with you before any digging starts.

Signs your Southampton septic tank or cesspool needs emptying

Call if you notice any of these, if the system is overdue, or if more people are using it than usual.

  • Slow drains all over

When sinks, tubs and toilets all drain slowly at the same time, the system itself is usually the problem, not a single clogged pipe.

  • Gurgling or backups

Gurgling toilets and water coming back up into a tub or floor drain mean wastewater has nowhere to go.

  • Sewage odor

A sewage smell in the yard or near the drains often means the cesspool or tank is full.

  • Wet ground over the system

Soggy soil, standing water or unusually green grass above the cesspool or tank can mean it is overflowing.

  • No pump-out in years

If you can't remember the last pump-out, or you just bought the house, it's time to have the system checked and emptied.

  • More people than usual

Guests, a growing family or a rental unit add water the system has to handle, so it fills sooner than it used to.

Sewers in Southampton Village: what's planned and what it means today

The Village of Southampton has no centralized sewer collection system. A New York State DEC notice published August 26, 2026 says the parcels in the downtown project area use on-site wastewater systems (cesspools), and the village is preparing a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement for a downtown sewer system and treatment plant that would serve about 254 parcels.

That project is at the environmental review stage and is limited to downtown. For now, homes in the village handle wastewater with a cesspool or septic system, so regular pumping is still part of owning property here. The typical home in the village was built around 1985 (U.S. Census, ACS 2020–2024). Owners in the planned service area may want to follow the village’s review, but until a sewer is built and connected, the cesspool still has to be maintained.

The Town of Southampton septic rebate

Southampton is one of the few towns with its own septic funding: a June 2025 Town of Riverhead meeting summary names only Southampton, East Hampton and Shelter Island. The Town of Southampton Septic Rebate Program, paid from the Community Preservation Fund, offers up to $25,000 (a base rebate of up to $20,000 plus a $5,000 low-to-moderate income incentive, if approved) to owners in a Priority Area who replace an existing system with an I/A system. Owners outside a priority area with a collapsing system may also be eligible.

On March 10, 2026 the Town Board expanded the priority-area maps to follow Suffolk County standards, increasing the number of residents eligible. The rebate is paid after the work is done, and the Town’s FAQ doesn’t say whether it applies inside the incorporated village, so check eligibility with the Town first. Suffolk County’s Septic Improvement Program grant of up to $20,000 may also apply.
