Commercial cesspool & septic
Service for business and multi-family systems.
Restaurants, offices, retail centers, schools and apartment buildings put heavy demands on a cesspool or septic system. JET Cesspool Service pumps, cleans and maintains commercial systems on Long Island, works around business hours and answers emergencies 24/7.
Commercial systems handle more water and more variety than a house. Call if your building shows any of these.
When several fixtures drain slowly at once, the problem is usually past the individual lines, in the main line or the system itself.
Kitchens that send grease downstream coat pipes and on-site systems. A full grease trap is often the first place to look.
Sewage smells around entrances, parking areas or covers can reach customers and tenants quickly. They often mean a system is full or venting where it shouldn't.
Pooling or soft ground over the leaching area suggests wastewater isn't draining into the soil as designed.
If no one knows when the system was last pumped, especially after a change of tenant or owner, it is time to find out.
A business can't wait out a backup. Planned service, records and the right equipment keep a commercial system from becoming a closed-for-the-day problem.

JET services cesspools and septic systems at restaurants and food service businesses, retail strips, office buildings, medical offices, schools, apartment complexes and other multi-family buildings, car washes, auto shops and warehouses. If a property relies on an on-site system, it needs the same basic care as a house, only more often and on a bigger scale.
The easiest commercial backup to deal with is the one that never happens. A maintenance schedule built around how the property is used, such as seating, tenants, shifts and seasonal swings, means the system is pumped and checked before it is overloaded.
We can schedule visits early in the morning, at night or on weekends where possible, so service doesn’t disrupt customers, patients or residents. After each visit we tell you what we found, which helps property managers keep records and plan budgets.
In Suffolk County, systems for anything other than a single-family home are designed to separate Department of Health Services standards, sized to the building’s design flow. New businesses need a permit from the county’s Office of Wastewater Management, and changes to an existing building may need its approval too.
Since July 1, 2021, new construction projects that use an on-site system have had to install an I/A (nitrogen-reducing) system. Food service businesses also need a permit from the county’s Bureau of Public Health Protection, and the county’s standards require a grease trap for restaurant and food preparation kitchens. Properties inside a sewer district answer to that district instead.
As a Suffolk County–registered I/A installer, JET handles new commercial projects that need a nitrogen-reducing system as well as upgrades to existing ones.
Backups in a business don’t wait for a convenient time, so our emergency line is staffed 24/7. On an emergency call we focus first on stopping the overflow, then on finding out whether the cause is a full system, a blocked line or a failing structure.
Once the immediate problem is handled, we’ll recommend what would keep it from happening again, whether that is a shorter pumping interval, grease trap service or a repair.
